K'Aloha Photography has been on a brief hiatus. My husband and I have been getting our feet wet (literally and figuratively) in our new home! :) I am looking forward to Doug & Daysha's engagement shoot tomorrow. :) Stay tuned for what looks to be a promising session.

I have been meaning to post this for a while. Since the move, I haven't had all of the time I would have originally liked to get out and play, but last night, I finally set time aside to just PLAY. I took some pictures from some of my old shoots and worked to make them just a little bit more dramatic.

Something really cool happened during the process of this..... I was inspired by one of my clients. You can look back to May and find Rachelle and Eric. They are such a cute couple; in fact, throughout this whole process we really have become friends. Sadly, about a month ago, her father passed away unexpectedly. I have to say, that no matter what I may have charged for her wedding, now those images are simply priceless to me now. I went into this business trying to provide affordable yet elegant photos. I wanted to HELP people. Without realizing it, K'Aloha Photography really become a part of something HUGE. I got to be a part of one of their happiest moments. You can be sure that my clients are more to me than just a couple who I need to pose. Rachelle, thank you for inspiring these shots. I know right now is such a difficult time for you. May you always cling to those memories you had of your daddy walking you down the aisle.

I was extremely blessed to attend Paul & Lindsay's wedding as a guest. Here are a few candid shots from their wedding. These two are so in love it is contagious. I couldn't stop staring at Lindsay's gorgeous smile. Her eyes simply sparkled. My husband and I have been on vacation the entire summer, so I have taken the last month and a half off. We were on our way back from Las Vegas to attend this wedding. On the trip back my husband turned to me and said "I know Lindsay will glow just like you did." If I looked like her, I have to say that I was captivating, because Lindsay simply took everyone's breath away. Paul and Lindsay, you two are lifelong friends. We are so excited for your journey together!

On another note, I have to give a shout-out to Paul & Lindsay's photographer, David Torralva. I truly admire his work. He is really helping me discover my own voice in photography as a photographer. Bubbly excitement. Assurance. Drop dead gorgeous. Spending the day with Courtney was nothing short of exciting. I knew that Courtney & I clicked since the moment we met, but on her wedding day, I felt as though I was with one of my very closest friends. Courtney had the best attitude all day. She actually had a few mishaps on her wedding day, but she managed to be as classy as ever. She and Andrew were a true example of what a wedding she be all about-each other. I knew I adored Courtney from the moment I met her, but watching her interact with the love of her life was quite possibly one of the CUTEST things I have ever seen. She was so jumpy and bubbly around him. Andrew was quite the trooper too! He lasted through about six hours of shooting and four different locations. When you mix the best of these two together (Courtney's enthusiasm, deep love, complete cuteness, and kind heart with Andrew's patience, strength, care, and love towards Courtney) you get an absolutely successful life of love ahead! I have no doubt that these two will have an incredible life filled with adventures and good times. I cannot wait until their wedding in May. It is just a few short weeks away. Today was quite the priviledge to shoot Hannah's Senior Portraits. Driving around with her, listening to her tales of her best friends, upcoming prom, and hopes for a life after graduation was quite inspriting. She is so vivacious, loving, and at her young age, quite successful as well. I know that her parents certainly beam with pride at the very thought of her. She is headed for a life of complete happiness. I had so much fun with Hannah. She was so confident and comfortable with herself. It says a lot about a persons character when they can just comfortably smile infront of a camera. In the coming weeks, you will see some pictures in front of her church. Hannah is a girl scout. Besides selling those INSANELY DELICIOUS cookies, she also worked on a huge project. She built a beautiful garden-gazebo area in front of her church. Those pictures will be posted in the coming week. Hannah, I wish you a lifetime full of blessings. I know that you will only continue to develop as an amazing person. Never lose your faith. Never lose your fervor for life. I can guarantee that a lot of people will find hope in the love that you have to offer this world. Absolute B E A U T Y that can T A K E Y O U R B R E A T H away. I am not talking about the scenery behind these two. Cori and her daughter "J" are absolutely gorgeous girls. Beyond the surface level beauty, it was quite amazing to see deep love shared between mother and daughter. I am sure a lot of you know what I mean, because you can just sense it when you first meet people like Cori and "J". Their session was certainly one of the most fun ones that I have had (which you know says a lot, since I have a lot of fun on all of my sessions!). Cori is such a great mom. You can see her passions lie in helping others. She certainly has given her goodness to her daughter, as every step they both took was with elegance and grace. It is simply amazing how a few hours can make such a profound impact. One day, I hope to be as good as a mother to my child(ren) as Cori is to her insanely gorgeous daughter. 18 Month "C" + Baby Session

O H A N A. Family. Today, I got a chance to capture a few moments to celebrate baby "C"'s 18 month milestone! :) On a side note, as may of you know, I do not put children's names on my blogs. Each child receives a letter. We cannot be too careful in this world. Back to wonderful "C." Maryana, "C"'s mom, is one of the wonderful people I am proud to call "Ohana." What does it mean to be Ohana. Well, of course, most people recognize that phrase from a popular disney production called "Lilo and Stitch." Ohana means family. Yes, actually, in the native Hawaiian language, Ohana does mean family. So when it comes to a photoshoot, Ohana means that K'Aloha is available to you. Most retail stores have one day a year where friends and family can shop at the same discount as the employee. With K'Aloha, that day can come as often as you would like it too. Whether you would like to do one single shoot, or multiple ones, K'Aloha Photography aims to treat you like a favoured family member. Secondly, Ohana means helping you out financially. I LOVE THESE PEOPLE! Shooting Bill & Tash's Wedding felt just like hanging out with good friends. A photographer couldn't beg for a better setting. When I walked into the room the energy was just right: everyone was relaxed and having a great time, music was playing, and the mood oozed a confidence in an endured love. The entire night covered a range of emotions. You will see in the post on their ceremony how hard it was for me to stay composed behind the camera. Their ceremony was incredibly moving, as you could feel the deep love that these two shared. But prior to this, the atmosphere was incredibly fun. Saturday, March 21st, 2009 + Rialto, CAThis time of the year tends to be one of the busiest for high school Seniors. Today I got to spend a little time with Jacob, a graduating Senior. Most parents would BEG to have Jacob as their son. He said that he was taking these pictures for his mom, and told me how she was a wonderful and "chill" mom! What a sweetheart. As you may have heard in past posts, I am going to be a starting a "Hubby Hall of Fame." While Jacob does not apply for this category, he sure could teach a lot of guys out there a lesson about how to be relaxed at a photoshoot! Jacob, I hope you make it through the next two months or so without succumbing to an insane amount of senioritis! I know your parents are proud of you, as well as everyone who knows you! I also know you have a promising life ahead of you, and cannot wait to see the places that you will go! Blessings at college next year. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation. :)

G E N U I N E...... P U R E love. These words come to mind with this wonderful family. As funny as this is going to sound, I need to really call this business a complete bag of blessings. I met Tasha through her sister-in-law, Des. Des' family has truly become an extension of K'Aloha. They know what the true meaning of O H A N A is. I seriously love hanging out with these people and shooting any of their events! So, of course, I was super stoked to be able to take pictures of Tasha, her fiance, and their beautiful daughter. To H A V E and to H O L D. In a mere 4 and a half months, Greg & Jen will take their walk down the aisle to have and to hold for life. One word that came to mind as I watched them love each other was R E A S S U R A N C E. These two were so comfortable in their love. You could tell the ease they felt with one another. We all have our very favorite comfy outfit. Well these two can be likened to the most luxuriant outfit; one you can just snuggle up in and be happy for life. These two are calm, confident, and love each other deeply. I had the privileged of living with Jen for most of my Senior year of college. I was blessed to share many nights of conversations about "the one" and all of the standards that she had for the one who would take her hand in marriage. Greg certainly has not fallen short of the standards Jen set for herself. These two completely fit together, and I cannot wait to see their journey unfold as man & wife. Congratulations Greg & Jen. You two bring a peaceful love that I am sure will inspire all you encounter.

You may recognize a familiar face in this posting. Zach and his family did a family shoot with me back in January. Zach, in fact, has served to be a kind of mentor to me as I have adventured to start my own business. A little over a year ago, I spent many lunch hours with his wife discussing a dream that Zach had to start a business. The has now manifested into quite possibly the COOLEST business ever- The Game Squad. Now, I have always admired Zach for going out on a limb and pursuing his dreams, but in actuality, what he has to offer is pretty solid and stellar. It was nice to be able to witness with my own eyes what he does. You wouldn't believe the happiness that The Game Squad brings to people who encounter his parties. This particular photo shoot was for Zach's business. We started out wanting to take pictures of the truck and monster trailer, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to capture the faces of these enthralled boys! They had no idea that I even existed. If you have a husband, fiance, or son out there, you know how difficult it can get when you mix boys with cameras.

Now let me be clear and upfront. I am not in the advertising business, but as a person involved in the event industry, you will see a few vendor recommendations along the way. Welcome back! For those of you who follow this blog, you may have noticed that I have been out for over a week and a half! That is because my husband and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary! Those clients who have already had the opportunity to meet with me have heard the story of how I got involved in the business. I wanted to take this opportunity to share the story with new potential clients.

I have been shooting for over six years now. It wasn't until my wedding a year ago that I realized how insane this business is! My husband and I got so frustrated with the high cost that most photographers out there charge. After the wedding, I discussed with my husband the possibilities of starting my own photography business; one that would allow people to get a great, friendly, personal photographer without having to sacrifice the quality. So here I am, a year later, with a wonderful and supporting husband. He encouraged me to do this, and now we have welcomed a bunch of wonderful clients into our "Ohana." I hope that you will also become a part of the Ohana.

I have returned from the land of love (aka Wine Country), and while love has not left me, I will be updating with new posts soon! In the coming months, I will also be updating my website to a dot com, and will share some fun vendor information, including the great (and inexpensive) places to wine, dine, play, and stay in the Napa Valley and Sonoma areas! This is the last posting for Eric & Rachelle. Our third location found us at a prime Southern California location: THE BEACH! Even if the day was a little overcast, any day that is just a little shy of 70 degrees equals heaven at the beach. When we approached, we were surprised to see tons of people around the beach. While I would usually say that Eric & Rachelle stand out in a crowd, these two simply slipped into their own little world. On the way home from the shoot I told Rachelle that I would ask her what she experiences as she walks down the aisle the first weekend in May. I have heard many people say (and I too have experienced it myself as I walked towards my own husband) that the entire world goes quiet, and the only thing that is near to existence is the one standing before you. During this shoot, I could completely see that as Eric & Rachelle looked at each other. I simply cannot wait to capture those glances, stares, and to see the world go quiet and well for these two who are so deep in love. Congratulations Eric & Rachelle. As promised, here is the second location from Eric & Rachelle's engagement session. This is where the fun begins! Eric & Rachelle deserve to have some kind of award. They met in Junior High, starting date IN JUNIOR HIGH, fell in love, and have lived to tell their love story! Most people boast of having the ability to make it through the early years. Imagine trying to make it through the crazy, hormonal years! These two are a testament to a great relationship that endures. :)

The day of our shoot we had originally planned to go to the Junior High where they met, and fell in love. Sadly, the school was completely locked down and the parking lot was overrun with young baseball players. We immediately headed out to Downtown Fullerton, and then decided to go to their high school, which was just across the street! I hope you enjoy these pictures. I had so much fun with you two!

On our photoshoot day we were able to visit three different places: Downtown Fullerton, Kennedy High, and Huntington Beach. As I said before, we had such a great day! Saturday, February 21st, 2009 + Various Locations in Orange County I had the opportunity to meet Eric and Rachelle at the beginning of January. When you hear the words "love at first sight," in a weird way, this happened for us! Now, I am not in love with these two romantically, but I do simply adore them. From the moment I met them I could feel the chemistry between Eric and Rachelle. Today's shoot certainly was one of the easiest because of their comfort, ease, and head-over-heels in love aura that these two reflected. I am excited for most of my shoots, but I am absolutely overjoyed that I will get to be a part of their wedding day! May can't come quick enough. For now, this is their teaser. We had so many great shots, so their full post will be quite long, I am sure. In fact, this is probably the "biggest tease" I have ever posted! Eric and Rachelle, thank you for such a wonderful day. F A M I L Y. Love. Support. Wonderful Parents. Adoring Children. These terms complete summarize my shoot with Zach and Nikole. This family never ceases to amaze me. This particular photoshoot was very special to me, because I got to take pictures of my "bestie." This photoshoot actually has a really cute story of two great friends. Anyone who knows me understands that I have a number of passions in my life, but two of the top picks are photography and teaching. This photo shoot combined the best of both worlds. Nikole is my absolute best friend at work. She had been out on maternity leave for most of the school year. FINALLY she returned to me. But before she came back to work, we wanted to capture a few intimate moments between her family. Zach and Nikole have truly become my second family. I was more than honored to be able to capture these F U N moments. I can only pray that one day I will be as great of a parent as these two have been to their children. Honestly, I have to laugh. If you are like me, you have probably stalked many photographers blogs. They seem to be best friends with everyone they encounter. I am so blessed to honestly be able to say that I have been blessed to meet some truly kind and remarkable people. But yesterday, I got to top the charts as I got to shoot my very close friends, Nikole and Zach. They have been more than friends. They have been mentors, and a family away from family. I am still so happy that I will be able to pause these precious moments in time not only for them, but with them! Paul and Linsday.... relaxed, suave, fun, and oh so in love! We had a great time at our engagement shoot. These two were willing to do anything! I have always found that when I shoot anyone, I want them to feel as though they have known me forever. So far, this goal has been met, and I hope to keep it going! But this time, it was different. I actually have known Linsday since I was in high school. I am finding that I am starting up this business at just the right time. It meant so much to me to be able to capture a good friend of mine. I finally got the privilege to meet Paul a few months ago, and loved him immediately. But let me tell you, when you are given the opportunity to capture the moments of love between two people, true characters tend to show themselves. Most men prove themselves to be patient or not. This particular shoot revealed a future husband who is kind, sincere, patient, and tender. He went through every effort to be sure that Linsday was safe and comfortable (we climbed some crazy trees :)). I know that their wedding this coming July will prove to be intimate, meaningful, and will make everyone in the crowd learn to fall in love again. In order to go into photography, one must have a natural inclination for the love of this art form. I have spent years stalking photographers websites. I know some of you out there may know what I am talking about. There is just something about good photographs that tend to capture the attention of others. One thing that I noticed a lot of photographers do not do is to post a lot of selection from the shoots they do. merry way, and played with their beautiful daughter along the private cove of Corona Del Mar."Do not open until January 2009." We should really customize this message for Desiree and say "Do not open until about a week and a half from now." As I start to pursue this business, I am finding that it has so many blessings. The people I have encountered have been incredible! This afternoon I got to meet three more wonderful people that I hope to add to my photography "Ohana" for a very long time. Desiree contacted me from a posting on Craigslist, and boy am I glad she did! Des, her husband Wes, and their beautiful daughter brought a very calming vibe to this photoshoot. As we got started a little late, Wes and Des were not stressed one bit. In fact, I truly felt like a fly on a wall during this shoot. Wed and Des went along their As you see above, Des is very close to giving birth. She was quite the trooper, hiking all around the rocky terrain of this particular beach. Her vibrant blue eyes, and a sweet smile replied to me when I told her she was quite tough "I have a two year old." Well, with one two year old already, and a baby boy on the way, I know just from the few hours I spent with Wes & Des that they are incredible people. Their children are so lucky to have them! I hope you enjoy all of the fun we had!

Just like the other post should have been labeled "Everything that could go wrong did, but they are in love!", so this post should be called "How far will your photographer go for you?!" I find it funny that as I am starting up this business the weather has been completely against me, BUT I have had some AMAZING clients who have been willing to brave the storms! So for the shoots I have fought off setting suns, tromped through marshy grass, braved the rain, and encountered INCREDIBLE people. I know this is completely symbolic of the type of life that the couples will share as husband and wife. After braving the rain, surviving a broken car and being stranded in tim-buck-too, we headed our way out to their final locations... Pleasanton Parks. The Vineyard Shots

My husband and I were in the San Francisco Bay area for all of two days, when I got the phone call from my very good friend from my teaching credential program, Briana. We thought we would try to do a session in San Diego (since that is where she is originally from and where we met), but we braved the brief time we had, and the crazy weather to do a Northern California photo session. We went wild after a few set backs (story to come soon). This post will feature the different venues we were able to see. It was quite fun tromping around in the rain with them around the Bay Area. I got to see a lot, and discover many new places in this vast plain!

The Plantation Home Shots

The Concannon Winery has the most precious white, classic older style home on it's property. I like to call it a "Plantation Home." We had a great time playing around the porch and the surrounding area. Enjoy these shots!

The people at the Concannon winery were so gracious and kind! We got to the area very early in the morning. They opened up the tasting room doors early for us, and allowed us to go crazy! January 2nd, 2009 + Del Valle Lake Engagement Session 2

This session of the blog we should call EVERYTHING THAT COULD GO WRONG DID- BUT THEY ARE STILL IN LOVE! The story starts like this: we woke up early in the morning to the news that there was going to be rain in the Bay Area! Now, we Southern California girls know that the forecast of rain doesn't always come true, but we found out that it almost always true in the Northern part of our great state. We decided to push on, and go forward with the shoot. We had hoped that while we were at the winery the rain would wear off, it did not. It only poured harder. Yet, we pressed on. We headed to Del Valle Lake, deciding to go to one of the most secluded spots of the area. After shooting for a bit, we decided to go closer to the lake. First, we hopped in the car, and as Bri turned the ignition, it gave out! We were stranded. To make a long story short we had no cell phone reception, a park ranger came and was unable to jump our car, then the park ranger said the only phone available was the pay phone, then the pay phone didn't work properly! We finally got in touch through a choppy pay phone, another park ranger came with proper jumping equipment, and we switched cars with Mike's parents! It was quite the eventful day, but these two pushed on... and looked oh so good! Look forward to another posting with pictures from beautiful parks in Pleasanton.
